Shift Hoops — Privacy Policy
Last revised: June 26, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Shift Hoops ("Shift Hoops," "we," "us," and "our") collects through the Shift Hoops mobile app and related features (the "Services"), how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It's part of our Terms of Use.
We've tried to write this in plain language. If anything is unclear, email us at support@shifthoops.com.
1. What we collect
Information you give us:
- Your first and last name, email address, and password when you create an account.
- Your date of birth (we use it to confirm your age).
- A parent or guardian's email address, if you're under 13, so we can get their permission.
- Optional things you choose to add, like a mailing address or your training goal.
- Messages you send us, such as support requests, feedback, or bug reports.
Video and movement data:
- The videos you record in the app, including audio if your microphone is on.
- The body-movement and performance data the app creates from your videos — for example, how you shoot, dribble, or move, and your stats over time.
Subscription information:
- If you buy a subscription, we keep track of what plan you have. The payment itself is handled by Apple, not us — we don't see your card details.
Basic technical information:
- Limited device and app information needed to run the app and fix problems, such as app crash reports and which version of the app you're using.
What we do NOT collect:
- We do not collect your location or GPS.
- We do not access your phone contacts.
- We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics companies.
2. How your video is handled
When you record in the app, the video is analyzed on your device to track your movement. The video and the movement data it produces are then uploaded to our own servers so we can give you your clips, stats, and feedback, and so we can keep improving how the app works.
Because video of you and your body movements is sensitive, we treat it carefully and limit who can access it. (See "Security," Section 9.)
3. How we use your information
We use what we collect to:
- Run the app and give you your videos, stats, and feedback.
- Set up and manage your account and subscription.
- Respond to your questions and support requests.
- Keep the app working, fix bugs, and keep it secure.
- Build, improve, and develop the technology that powers the app — including the parts that detect and give feedback on your movement. To do this we analyze the videos and movement data people record.
- Send you important account or service messages, and (if you allow it) occasional updates. You can opt out of marketing messages anytime.
4. Group and trend insights
We may combine information from many users to understand how training and drills work across groups — for example, by age, gender, or skill level. ("Players aged 10–15 improved their shooting form by X% using this drill.")
These insights are about groups, not individuals. They don't identify you, and we make sure groups are large enough that no single person can be picked out. We may publish or share these group insights — for example, to show how a drill helps a certain age group.
5. Selling and sharing — what we do and don't do
We do not sell your personal information.
We may sell, license, or share:
- the technology and models we build, and
- anonymized or grouped information that does not identify you (like the trends in Section 4).
If we ever decide to share or sell personal information that identifies you, we will update this policy first and give you the choices the law requires. We would not do that with a child's information.
6. Who we share information with
We don't share your personal information except in these cases:
- Companies that help us run the app. We use Amazon Web Services (AWS) to store data and run our backend. Service providers like this only get what they need to do their job, and must keep it confidential.
- Sign-in providers. If you choose to sign in with Google or Apple, that sign-in is handled by Google or Apple under their own privacy policies. We only use it to log you in.
- Apple, for processing subscription payments.
- If the law requires it — for example, a valid court order — or to protect people's safety, prevent fraud, or enforce our Terms.
- If our business is sold or merged, your information may transfer to the new owner as part of that deal.
7. Children's privacy
The app isn't aimed at children under 13. If someone under 13 wants to use it, we first ask for a parent or guardian's email and their permission, and we limit what we collect from that child to what's needed to provide the app. Parents can contact us at support@shifthoops.com to review, change, or delete their child's information, or to withdraw their permission.
8. How long we keep your information
We keep your information while your account is active and as long as we need it to provide the Services. You can ask us to delete your account and information, and we will, within a reasonable time — though we may keep some records where the law requires it or to prevent fraud and abuse.
9. Security
We use reasonable physical, technical, and organizational measures to protect your information, including your videos. No system is ever 100% secure, so we can't guarantee perfect security, but we take it seriously — especially for sensitive video and movement data.
10. Your choices and rights
You can:
- See, correct, or delete your information — email us at support@shifthoops.com.
- Turn off marketing emails using the unsubscribe link, or by emailing us. You'll still get important account messages.
11. If you're in Europe or the UK (GDPR)
If you're in the European Union, United Kingdom, or a similar region, you have extra rights over your information. You can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the information we hold about you,
- correct it if it's wrong,
- delete it,
- limit or object to how we use it, and
- receive it in a portable format.
To use any of these rights, email support@shifthoops.com. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
We use your information based on: providing the service you signed up for; your consent (which you can withdraw); and our legitimate interest in running and improving the app. Where we rely on consent — including for children and for sensitive data — you can withdraw it at any time.
12. If you're in California or other US states
Depending on your state, you may have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request a copy, to ask us to delete it, and to not be discriminated against for using those rights. We do not sell your personal information. To make a request, email support@shifthoops.com.
13. Where your information is stored
We're based in the United States, and our servers are in the United States. If you use the app from outside the US, your information will be sent to and stored in the US, which may have different data protection laws than your country. By using the Services, you understand your information will be handled as described in this policy.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll post the new version here with a new date, and if the changes are significant we'll make a reasonable effort to tell you (for example, by email or an in-app notice). Continuing to use the Services after that means you accept the updated policy.
